Peregrin Fairhill and Cotton Buckleburr, two Warrow wee-folk, join a band of dwarves and the human Lord Kian to battle the evil spawn and regain the dwarf homeland. The sequel is The Brega Path (1986), and this duology is set several hundred years later in the same world as the author's Iron Tower trilogy: The Dark Tide (1984), Shadows of Doom (1984), and The Darkest Day (1984), as well as Dragondoom (1990). Tales of Mithgar (Penguin, 1994) is a collection of stories set in the same world.
